Wake Up to a new Community Radio!

03/12/2022

On February 5, 2022, a new community radio station was launched in Dolores Hidalgo--Radio Cuenca de la Independencia--produced at the Agricultural Development Center (CEDESA). Along with music and cultural programs, the station features a regular morning program, “Despierta! Que ya cantó el gallo del cerro,” (Wake Up? The rooster of the hill has crowed") that airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 12 noon with news, interviews and discussion of community concerns such as the current threat of open-pit mining at Cerro del Gallo which, if allowed to operate, would use 87 thousand liters of water per hour for this process, while releasing highly toxic chemicals such as sodium cyanide and sulfuric acid. You can tune in at http://cedesa.org.mx/radiocuenca.
