Throughout its 30 years of community work in the State of Guanajuato, the Fundación de Apoyo Infantil Guanajuato A.C. has worked to promote and enforce the rights of children, and especially the promotion of their health rights.
Therefore since 2003, one of our main guiding objectives has been the construction of more than 1,300 dry toilets in 40 communities of San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo, San Diego de la Unión and Tierra Blanca, as a healthy option that transforms human excreta, that without treatment is potentially harmful, into a harmless substance for health through an effective process of biodegradation. With this treatment, FAI has contributed to reducing the risks of gastrointestinal diseases in children.
But we were still missing something.
Aware that traditional construction materials such as partition, brick, cement and mortar, are not environmentally friendly materials since their manufacture involves an emission of toxic gases, our team of specialists has worked to develop innovative technologies that would result in advantages in the economy, resistance and durability, but above all would be consistent with our commitment to care for and protect the environment, especially water resources, within a framework of sustainability.
Now we are happy and proud to present our new model of ecological toilets, unique in the whole country, built with walls formed by a three-dimensional high-strength steel structure, which houses an element of recycled plastic fibers which serve as a thermal and resistant insulator, replacing materials based in non-renewable resources such as oil (Unicel Polystyrene and Polyurethane).
This new ecotechnology has been launched in four communities of Dolores Hidalgo with the construction of 30 ecological toilets which will initiate this new generation of dry toilets with a construction system of low environmental impact and reduction of our ecological footprint.
